Flip-to-Clean Saves Labor During Nursery Cleanup

Teutopolis, IL…Proper cleaning of nursery feeders after each pig group is critical to help prevent disease and maximize performance. In the past, that meant lifting and moving dry feeders in order to assure a thorough cleanup. Now there is a new option — the Farmweld Flip-to-Clean System designed for Farmweld Challenger Nursery Feeders — that promises to save time and reduce the hassle of nursery cleanup.

The Flip-to-Clean System enables a nursery worker to clean a Farmweld Challenger Nursery Feeder without having to remove it from the fenceline. The feeder can be rotated upside down and locked in place in two positions for cleaning at all angles and for drip-drying. "With better access to the different surfaces, you’ll end up with a more complete cleanup," says Dr. Ian Taylor, a Bloomingdale, IL-based design consultant with Animal Environment Specialists, Inc. During regular use pigs can’t rotate or move feeders.

By reducing the work of feeder cleanup, the Flip-to-Clean System will also boost employee morale. "Adding convenience is surely a plus," says Taylor. "And with this system, cleaning will be easier for the employee ergonomically and also be more effective," says Taylor. "Let’s face it, getting and keeping help today is critical, so the easier you can make things, the better the end result." Furthermore, a faster, easier cleanup frees labor for other performance-enhancing tasks.

The Farmweld Challenger Nursery Feeder features Farmweld’s highly accurate adjustment system and feed gate, which optimizes intake and minimizes waste. Feed flows evenly from the Farmweld Challenger Nursery Feeder without wicking. The low front lip design allows even the smallest pigs to reach the feed and take off quickly. Farmweld’s unique triangular-shaped wire dividers won’t trap pigs. Large, roomy feed spaces allow pigs to eat comfortably, waste less and grow better.

Farmweld Challenger Nursery Feeders are 30" (76 cm) tall, which adds hopper capacity and provides protection for feed drops. They are available in seven lengths: 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, and 60 inches (61, 76, 91, 107, 122, 137 and 152 cm).
